Scotty B's wings score with flavor - Jodie Wagner
It didn't take too long for the vacancy to be filled when Duffy's Draft House moved out of Lake Park earlier this summer.
Scotty B's, similar in style and substance to its predecessor, opened last month at duffy's former location on alternate A1A.
Though my husband and I were big fans of Duffy's (we still visit other locations on occasion), we have become even bigger fans of its replacement.
Scotty B's, much like other sports bars, offers a wide variety of burgers, sandwiches, salads and appetizers. Plus, with televisions scattered throughout, the restaurant is the perfect place to relax, watch football and enjoy a good meal.
My husband and I were looking to do just that when we visited on a recent Saturday night with our daughter. We settled into a corner booth -- a prime spot to watch the
Gators play Kentucky -- and perused the menu before placing our orders.
My husband, always a big fan of chicken wings, decided to start his meal with Scotty B's famous wings ($5.95 for 10). I opted for a small garden salad ($2.95). But as is often the case, my husband's selection was far superior.
The wings, served with celery and a side of blue cheese dressing, were hot, crispy and tangy -- a perfect wasy to start our meal.
Our entrees -- a steak and cheese sandwich ($6.95) for my husband, a grilled chicken sandwich ($6.95) for me and kids chicken tenders and french fries for our daughter -- followed quickly, as did a piece of key lime pie ($3.95) for dessert.
But those wings. Four of them made it home with us. The next time I don't suspect the same will be true.
